Price of a Kiss Review

Price Of A Kiss
Author: Linda Kage
Genre: Contemporary New Adult Romance
Release date: September 3, 2013
*mature new adult romance*
**explict scenes and language**

I don’t care what my cousin says; I am not the queen of impossible relationships. I mean, just because my last boyfriend tried to kill me and left a bit of a scar on my neck, then forced me to move across the country and legally change my name to Reese Randall to escape him, does not mean—

Oh, who am I kidding? For a freshman in college, I have to have the worst dating track record ever.

It’s no wonder love is the last thing on my mind when Mason Lowe enters my life. But the chemistry between us is like bam! Our connection defies logic. And he’s just so freaking hot. Being around him makes me feel more alive than I’ve ever felt before. I even like bickering with him. He could be my soul mate...except for one teeny tiny glitch.

He's a gigolo.

Boy, do I know how to pick them.

I rated Price of a Kiss five amazing leaves! I am obsessed with this book. I had no idea what I was getting into going into it, but gahhh it’s brilliant. The story is original which we all know is hard to come by these days. The synopsis is intriguing to say the least, but Linda Kage totally pulls it off. This is the first Linda Kage book I have ever read, and it definitely won’t be the last. She kept me hooked the whole book, and I had to stay up till three in the morning just to finish it.

Just the prologue alone had me texting some of my friends freaking out over how I was shocked by this book and how I just had to keep reading. Right after the prologue the story fast forward to present day where the two main characters, Reece and Mason, meet for the first time and they have explosive chemistry. I was fanning myself at the way Reece described Mason and how he elicited an insane feeling every time they made eye contact. Then the rollercoaster of emotions begin. And I loved every second of it. Reece starts getting to know Mason on a personal level. But no matter how much she might be attracted to him, she thinks she has to resist because he’s a gigolo. Mason finds himself inexplicably drawn to Reece’s personality. But he has to fight any feelings he might have for her because he is tethered by his job. On top of all that, Reece has a dark secret which is the reason they end up at the same college in the first place.

This story was full of angst and drama. I mean, it’s sort of forbidden romance, how could there not be tension? The best part about it is that Linda doesn’t draw out the tension unnecessarily; however, she does make it so that it draws you in and you feel with the characters. From the prologue, we know why Mason has to be a gigolo and my heart was aching for him. He can’t be a normal teenage guy with relationships and casual sex and all that. On the other hand, Reece was stalked by her ex-boyfriend to the point where she had to go into hiding and get a new identity. I was a little shocked that she wasn’t more distrusting of guys or haunted at all because of her traumatic experience, but I think if she was that this story would be too much like the other New Adult books. There are many twists and turns in Price of a Kiss, some expected and others not, and it all makes you emotionally attached to the book and the characters.

I wanted, no needed, Mason and Reece to get together from the very beginning of the novel. Reece was fantastic, and I totally have a girl crush on her. Even though she has been hurt in the past, she doesn’t act like it at all. She is selfless, bubbly, feisty, innocent, smart, and just awesome. Mason *dreamy sigh* is definitely one of my new book boyfriends. He would do anything for Reece, oh and his little sister, Sarah. He is compassionate, sexy, intense, adorable, and surprisingly moral for a gigolo haha. I wasn’t too big of an Eva fan, but she grew on me by the end. I adored Mason’s little sister, Sarah, who has cerebral palsy but is the cutest thing ever. Okay, I think I’m done raving about the amazingnesss that is Price of a Kiss. Please do yourself a favor and read it! Although there’s nothing quick or light about it, it is surely an enjoyable and amazing book!
