Trust by BR Kingsolver Review

~*SYNOPSIS*~

The history of my relationships reads like the Titanic meets a tornado during an earthquake. Disaster after disaster. For some reason, I'm always attracted to lying jerks. I finally decided that it's better to just have a good time and no one gets hurt. That philosophy worked for my last two years of college.

Then I let myself get pulled in again by a pair of broad shoulders, pretty hazel eyes, and kisses that turned my brain to mush. Of course he was lying to me. All my friends told me something wasn't right, but I'm such a fool.

When it all went wrong, I didn't expect his tall, dark, and handsome roommate being there to catch me. I think I love him. But can I trust him? He makes me happy. Can I trust myself?

Ashley graduated from college and isn’t looking for romance. What she needs is a job and the career she’s worked so hard to achieve. Can her dream of working overseas survive a man who seeks to capture her heart?

When Jeff came over after his softball game, I still had a lot of anger and resentment that I hadn’t taken out on Marcie. I didn’t even know it was there until I had another convenient target.
He pulled me into his arms and kissed me, but I pulled away. Walking away from him, I said, “Why didn’t you tell me you were rich? Or that your father’s company is Owens, Hart and Collins?”
“You never asked me. Why, is it important?”
“I guess it isn’t if this is just a temporary fling. I just think it’s polite to let a girl know that you’re never going to take her home to meet your parents. It sort of puts everything in perspective so that she can decide whether or not she’s comfortable just being a casual fuck.”
“Ashley, what is going on? I’m not trying to hold anything back from you. We hardly know each other.”
“Yeah. I was asked earlier today, what your last name is and I didn’t know it. My fault, I guess. Normally you find that sort of thing out on a first date, but I guess we haven’t had our first date yet, have we? We just jumped into the fucking part and left the introductions for later.”
“I’m not the one who did the seducing,” he said. “I told you that we should wait. You’re the one who was hot to trot, and now that’s my fault? You’re being incredibly ungrateful. I think you’ve got issues, and I’m more than willing to let you work them out. Good night.”

He didn’t exactly slam the door, but he didn’t close it gently, either. I stood staring at it with my mouth open. What the hell just happened? The last thing I wanted to do was fight with Jeff. When he knocked on the door, my heart jumped in my chest, and I skipped to the door to answer it. And then I opened my mouth, and the same bitchy crap I’d laid on Marcie earlier came spilling out.

~*REVIEW BY LO*~

What a fun read! First let me start by saying that this is a book that is a fun and easy read that you won't want to put down. Make sure to have your day free when you start to read Trust because you won't want to stop. I really LOVED the characters in Trust. I think what makes a good book is the character storylines/background. I felt like all the characters in this book were real and believable. This makes connecting with the book so much easier.
Ashley is finishing up the very end of her college career and like a lot of graduates, is without a job. Her passion is to travel overseas, but at this point, she will be happy to just have a job, She is offered a management position The Library, the bar that she has been working for. Ashley takes this job and life seems good. She has a few men that are interested in her but she just isn't ready for a relationship. Ashley is just happy to know that she can still interest a man. Just when you think everything is happy and perfect for Ashley, we are thrown a twist. Kingsolver is great at making you think everything is going as planned and then you are hit with another twist. This is what I find enjoyable when I read a book. I love books that are not predictable.
Take the time to read Trust and find out if Ashley gets her ideal job overseas or gets her man who treasures her...OR BOTH.

The Hazards of Sleeping With a Friend by Alyssa Rose Review + Giveaway

~*SYNOPSIS*~

Warning: Sleeping with a friend might change your life forever.

Sleeping with Kyle was never in the plans. Pretending to be his girlfriend was one thing, but letting our relationship become anything but platonic was another. The problem with mixing friendship with sex is that inevitably feelings get involved, and when that happens there's no turning back.

When Kyle's life fell apart around him, I needed to help, but doing that meant opening myself up to the most terrifying thing in the world—falling in love.
~*EXCERPT*~
I glanced out the window and saw her. Jade? She’d driven all the way up to find me? I stared at her for a moment. Her dark hair was soaked, and she had one arm wrapped around her chest as she anxiously watched the door.
She began shivering, and I snapped. I couldn’t leave her standing out there in the rain. I opened the door and took in her sopping wet form. “Jade.” Her name came out in barely a whisper.

“Kyle.” She stood there staring at me.

“What are you doing here?” I tried to keep my voice level, but I was hit by such all-encompassing emotion that I could barely see straight.

“I’m here because I need to be. I need to be with you.” Her eyes remained fixed on mine.

Her words almost broke me. I fought the urge to reach out to touch her. One touch and I’d never be able to let go. Instead I broke the intense gaze between us and gestured for her to get out of the rain. “Come in.”

“If you’re sure.” Her eyes searched mine, probably looking for evidence that I was really inviting her in.

“I am.” I took her hand and pulled her inside, closing the door behind her.

“You’re here.” My body trembled with the effort to keep away from her. Did I think I could really stay away? That I could hold any anger or resentment toward the girl who lit up my life? “How’d you know I’d be here?”

“I didn’t know for sure. I got the address from Dana and took a chance.” She dropped her now sopping wet bag on the floor. “I’m worried about you. Everyone is. I know you are hurt, but that isn’t a reason to run away from everyone. You need to let someone in.”

~*REVIEW BY VANESSA*~

This book was a light, fun read. I wish I would have read the others in the series but you don't need to to read this story. This story was about Jade and Kyle who both have had previous feelings for each other but didn't act on them. They both worked for the student radio station at college and became fast friends. Jade has been jaded in the past and was contemplating on if she could go a life without sex and relationships. After discussing this one night with Kyle he tells Jade that if she has any feelings of needing someone to call him. Shocked by his admissions, Jade makes jokes and leaves it at that but secretly thought about what it would be like to be with him. After leaving Jade, Kyle gets a call from his brother telling him he had to come home and bring his girlfriend. This would be fine if only Kyle actually had a girlfriend. Not fully thinking he calls the first person he knows he can trust: Jade. Jade hesitantly agrees to play Kyle fake girlfriend but when the lines become blurry can these two find away to make something real or will Jade's jaded past make her lose the one thing she's never really had: love. Will Kyle make her see he's worth taking the risk on? Read to find out what happens to these two!

My gaze drifts below his belt, to the bulge in his jeans. He is fully erect, his shaft straining against his fly. A naughty thrill of excitement shoots through my veins. He’s aroused because of me.
“Um...do you want to take a break before I apply the stencil?”
He shakes his head, then leans forward and sweeps his hand through my hair, letting the strands slide through his fingers. A sigh escapes my lips as delicious sensations sweep through my body. I am on fire. And although I’ve been with men before, I’ve never been immobilized by a single touch.
“So soft.” He runs his hand over my hair again, this time trailing his fingers along my shoulder. His thumb glides over my throat and he curls his hand around my neck. “So fucking delicate.”
I am burning. Consumed by fire. A burst of need drives a whimper up my throat, and I choke it back as his thumb circles the sensitive hollow at the base of my neck. Firm. Unyielding. Dominant. With one squeeze, he could break me. The way I was broken before. The way he broke the butterfly. And yet nothing could tear me away from this moment.
“Sia.” He says my name softly, drawing out the last syllable in a gravelly murmur, almost like a prayer.
My brain fuzzes with lust, and I surrender to the thrill of his touch, the pounding of my pulse in my veins, the desire that has haunted me since I first saw him in the ring. My head falls back, my lips part, and I drown in the depths of an azure sea.
With a low groan, Ray turns sideways in the chair, dropping his legs to the floor. With his hand still cupped around my neck, he pulls me between his legs, the casters on my stool squeaking in gentle protest. I circle my arms around his neck and my breasts rub against his bare chest. The press of his erection against my stomach sends a rush of moisture to my sex.
“Jesus Christ.” His voice drops husky and low. “You’re killing me.”
He leans down and sweeps my hair behind my shoulder, then nuzzles my neck. Sensation sears through my body and I tilt my head to the side to give him better access. So unprofessional. What if Slim comes out? Overcome with the fulfillment of a year’s worth of longing, I can’t bring myself to care.
He feathers kisses over my cheek and I lick my lips in anticipation. This is really happening. He’s going to kiss me again. A real hands-on- the-body Predator kiss.
A bell tinkles behind me. Damn front door. Damn customers who come after hours. I’m not turning around. I want my kiss.
Ray glances up and stiffens. “Holy shit.”

~*REVIEW BY ELYSSA*~
Fallers, When It's Right is one of those books that reminds me why I love to read--that even though a book may be full of things I wouldn't ever pick out for myself (the outdoors and cowboys, neither of which I am a fan of in real life)--I can still absolutely fall in love with a story. I'm giving When It's Right 4.5 stars!

As a rule, I don't go for dramatic/upsetting backstories or undue drama, but Gillian's triumph over her abusive father in order to take care of her little brother started the story out with a heart-wrenching bang. When she and her brother are contacted by their erstwhile grandfather, she makes the brave step to move them both to Montana to live with him on his ranch. And while there, of course, she meets the perfect man--Blake.

Gillian's road to recovery is a long one. She's recovering from both the physical and psychological effects of long-term abuse, and while her grandfather's ranch is nothing but a loving environment, Gillian isn't used to love--she's always waiting for the other shoe to drop But through the patience of her family and a slow-burn wooing from the delicious Blake (who is the biggest sweetheart on the face of this earth), she slowly but surely begins to discover herself and fall in love for the first time.

Read this one ASAP, Fallers--you won't be disappointed. This story was smart and sweet, and full of love.
