He is seeking absolution.
Flynn Caldwell has a hero complex and it’s one of the reasons he joined the New York City Fire Department. He has spent his entire professional career trying to atone for that one person he failed to save. Because, if he can do that, then perhaps he can be worthy of love again.
She is seeking escape.
Rowan Page’s life is nothing short of a disaster. Always immersed in trouble, she has only herself to depend on. She’s determined to pull herself out of this mess and make something of her life, despite the hard years she has lived on the streets of New York.
Together, they have the chance to become complete.
Flynn and Rowan’s worlds exist miles apart, but when a chance meeting brings them together, neither of them can deny the instant pull that connects them to each other. What starts as a tiny spark eventually flares into a fire so hot, it refuses to be extinguished.
Both are willing to jump feet first into the flames to see where it takes them, despite the risk of being burned.

I rate Off Chance FOUR SEXY FIREMAN LEAVES!
I always said I wanted to marry a firefighter, and this book only intensified that fantasy. This was my first novel to read from Sawyer Bennett; and now that I have read Off Chance, I can't believe I have not absorbed these books before! I know what you're thinking...especially since this is the fifth book in the Off Series. If you're confused by how I read the fifth without reading the first four, you can be assured that although the past book's main characters make cameo appearances, these novels can be read as stand-alone novels.

Off Chance is about a cliche' hunky firefighter who has all of the necessary characteristics. According to family and friends, he has a hero complex and tends to bring in the strays who end up breaking his heart. He arrived at this career path out of personal experience, and he is just an all-around good guy. But this just makes him even more lovable, and he has an incredibly delicious one-dimple smile. In Off Chance, Flynn repeats his usual behavior and tries to save Rowan Page, the lady from a shady situation.

“She’s a stranger to me, and the only bond we share is that of savior and victim. In my line of work, that does not make for a lasting bond. I save someone, I go home and forget about them.
But there’s no forgetting Rowan Page.”

Rowan is a ballsy girl with a tough exterior caused by a rough childhood. She left home at 18 and has spent the last five years trying to make it in NYC. She ends up in an unhealthy relationship with a druggie, which in an interesting turn of events, leads her to Flynn. All she has is Capone, her sweet and loyal dog, and an attitude to get her through the extremely rocky patches in life.

Rowan and Flynn have some steamy chemistry, which is enjoyable to read through the alternating POVs. Most romance novels we read these days have the hero and the damsel in distress. When you read Off Chance's synopsis, you may think this novel is no different, but there is something special about Rowan and Flynn's story. I always have a difficult time writing reviews without spoiling them for the reader, so just trust me on this one.

USA Today Best-Selling author, Sawyer Bennett, is a snarky southern woman and reformed trial lawyer who decided to finally start putting on paper all of the stories that were floating in her head. She is married to a mobster (well, a market researcher) and they have two big, furry dogs who hog the bed. Sawyer would like to report she doesn't have many weaknesses but can be bribed with a nominal amount of milk chocolate.
