Determined to overcome a difficult past, Erica Hathaway learns early on to make it on her own. Days after her college graduation, she finds herself face to face with a panel of investors who will make or break her fledgling startup. The only thing she didn’t prepare for was going weak in the knees over an arrogant and gorgeous investor who seems determined to derail her presentation.
Billionaire and rumored hacker Blake Landon has already made his fortune in software, and he’s used to getting what he wants. Captivated by Erica’s drive and unassuming beauty, he’s wanted nothing more than to possess her since she stepped into his boardroom. Determined to win her over, he breaks down her defenses and fights for her trust, even if it means sacrificing a level of control he’s grown accustomed to.
But when Blake uncovers a dark secret from Erica’s past, he threatens not just her trust, but the life she’s fought so hard to create.
I gave Meredith Wild’s Hardwired 4 very intense leaves. With how intense and captivating the sexual tension and angst was with them, the book was already at least a 3 leaves rating for me, but the characters and the plot bumped it up. This book wasn’t what I was expecting at all, but wow, did I fall in love with it. I loved Erica. She thinks she’s impossible to fall in love with, but Blake and I both did. And fairly quickly too. She is a smart, independent, business woman trying to jumpstart her company. From the very first pitch where Erica and Blake verbally interact for the first time, the pages were already about to burn up. And it just got hotter and hotter. I like it when the characters don’t jump into a relationship right off the bat. Blake was our perfect kind of alpha male. He was on the very edge of dominating. He reminded me a lot of Christian Grey, but not very formal on the BDSM stuff. I loved how he always went for what he wanted, and he had just the right amount of confidence/arrogance that could make any woman weak.. He is also our tall, dark, and mysterious. He’s always looking out for Erica and he knows when to crowd her and when to back off. Their hot and cold game surprisingly never got old for me. All the techie talk did drive me nuts though. It made sense to have it in there because her business is online and he used to be a hacker, but I was kind of lost during those points. No biggie though, because a sex scene was usually not far behind and they were written to be scorching hot. The ending was a bit predictable for me, but there were lots of twists and turns throughout the book that I didn’t see coming. The ending is a cliffhanger in the way that there are lots of loose ends left, but we do leave Blake and Erica happy and together. Which is good. Because I don’t deal with cliffhangers well. Anyway, I am sooo looking forward to the next book, because I didn’t know it was part of a series! Can’t wait.
Meredith Wild picked up her first romance novel at the tender age of twelve, and shortly after put pen to word processor and made her first attempt at writing a love story inspired by those she so enjoyed reading well past her bedtime.
Her dream of writing took a back seat to college, parenthood and eventually entrepreneurship, which led her into the fast-paced and male-dominated high tech industry. With enough life experience for a few lifetimes, she now devotes her hours to writing contemporary adult romance, with a hint of kink.
Her debut novel Hardwired tells the story of billionaire bad boy, Blake Landon, and the object of his obsession, strong-willed tech startup CEO, Erica Hathaway. Hardwired will be the first of the Hardwired Series, while writing is underway for the second installment, Hardpressed.
When she isn’t writing or mothering, Meredith can be found sunbathing with an adult beverage.
