I don’t even know how to start this
review! I think I will start off bragging about the amazing author, Marni
Mann. As
I write in all of my reviews
of Marni, she has a special way with words! She has a true gift as a
writer. Her talent can magically place me within any story she writes. Marni has this power, you are forced to
feel all the emotions she is pouring out on the pages. In this story you will feel the heartache,
joy, and passion with her characters. Not
every story is perfect, but this story is beautiful in so many ways!!
Wild Aces is the spinoff from the
Timber Towers Series. This book does
contain mild spoilers for the five books in the series, but this story works perfectly
well as a standalone novel. Although I HIGHLY recommend the whole series if you
haven’t read them before. You will meet
Derek Block and he is enough to make you read the series and swoon.
In the Timber Tower Series, we meet
Brea Bradley as Frankie Jordan’s best friend and co-worker. In this book, we find out that Brea is now
promoted to running the leasing division at Jordan International. Brea has everything going for her: a great
job, awesome friends, and a loving family.
Brea has experienced a pain that no one should go through. It has been
almost two years since she has lost her boyfriend, Cody. Every day she gets stronger and she has not
let love in; just seeing guys here and there.
When Frankie and Derek host a masquerade party, Brea meets a man behind
a “batman” mask that will put the spark back into her life that she has needed
since the death of her boyfriend. The
connection between Brea and Trapper is so strong that you felt their chemistry
in the pages and it felt so real!
Trapper Montgomery is a professional
poker and when he meets Brea at the masquerade he knows that he can’t just have
a one night stand with her. He needs to travel to Las Vegas for a poker
tournament. There he and Brea sending some risky pictures and have phone
calls that will hold them both over until they can really have each other in
person. When Trapper and Brea finally get to meet face-to-face for the first
time, it does not go as planned for them both. This is where I am going to slowly remove
myself from this review. This part and
this story line is amazing! It’s very unique and something I have never read
before. That just means YOU as a reader
need to pick up this AMAZING book and devour it!!!
I LOVE Trapper! I mean his name itself is just HOT! Trapper is to die for; he is a sexy dirty talker, and much
more than meets the eye. Trapper is a
mix of badass yet gentle and sweet with a side of protective man you would be begging to talk to him. He is deep and emotional and without a doubt, I would surrender to
Trapper Montgomery in a heartbeat. Does it
sound like I have a crush on Trapper? The answer is yes and he is actually
seeing me on the side. ;)
I
fell in love with both Trapper and Brea and
really wanted them the find the happiness they both deserve and need
from each other. This has to be hands down, my new favorite book by
Marni Mann! If you’re looking for a story that will keep you entertained
and will have you turning the page as fast as you can to see what
happens, then
this book is for you! I might want to add you will probably need a cold
shower
too. ENJOY!!!!
