His Light in the Dark by L. A. Fiore Review

~*SYNOPSIS*~
My first memory was of a slap, hard across the face: the sting on my cheek and the jarring of my bones as I slammed back into my bed. It was my dad who had hit me.
I had been four.
Most of my memories were much of the same and no one ever saw, no one ever fought to help, no one ever cared.
Then we moved.
My new neighbor cared, rescued the twelve-year-old I had been from a beating. Always thought I'd suffer the nightmare alone, I was wrong.
Mace Donati saved me that day in all the ways a person could be saved.
And his daughter, Mia, she became the friend I had always wanted, my conscience when my own faltered, the light that led me home when I had lost my way.
The girl who grew into the only woman I would ever love.
But when you realize you're more like your father than the good people who took you in and gave you a home, the only way to return their kindness is to let them go.
I let them go, got so far lost in the shadows I couldn't remember who I was anymore. Mia never gave up on me. She fought for me, kept the light on so I'd find my way back.
And when I did, life threw us a curveball. I had to hurt Mia in order to save her.
But when my past comes back to haunt me and I almost lose her, I'm ready to fight for her...fight to find a way back into her heart while keeping the demons from my past from finishing what they started.

~*REVIEW BY JODIE RAE*~
When I read the synopsis of this book, I was intrigued and instantly wanted to get my hands on it! This story is told from Cole and Mia’s point of view (it is always great to be in the mind of a male). This is a roller coaster of emotions story starting from the very first page as your heart aches for Cole.

When reading about Cole’s childhood and the darkness that consumes him; I wanted to reach through my kindle and help him fight his battles.  Cole has a hard time letting people into his life. But, there has always been a lady who knew how to let some light into his life, Mia.

Mia met Cole when they are children. The book follows their lives as they are growing up. Cole came from a broken family with his father abusing him. Mia’s father opened their doors to their home to welcome him to be part of the family.  Mia has always had a soft spot for Cole. They started as friends and grew to be lovers. Cole always felt that his darkness could affect Mia. He would do everything in his power to push her away, but Mia knew they were supposed to be together and have a happily ever after.  This review is very vague because I feel like as reader you will need it read it for yourself and experience everything Mia and Cole went through. So much happens in this book that will make you just go crazy!

I rated this book FOUR LEAVES because you get lost in this story...wanting to find out everything as soon as possible.  You will fall in love with Cole. He is so hard to resist but once you get him, you are hooked and not letting him go.  Cole and Mia’s story is for the books and I loved everything about it.  I thought it was raw and seductive just what I love most in books.
