Pucked Over by Helena Hunting Review

~*SYNOPSIS*~

Lily LeBlanc isn’t versed in the art of casual sex, but after seven years in an on-again, off-again relationship, she’s definitely willing to give it a shot. And who better to try it with than her best friend’s boyfriend’s best friend? What could possibly go wrong? Nothing at all.

NHL player, Randy Ballistic, lives up to his last name on the ice and in the bedroom. His best friend and teammate has recently given up the puck bunnies and traded them in for a real girlfriend. And she just happens to have a seriously feisty, extra-hot best friend on the rebound. Randy’s more than happy to be Lily’s spring board back into the dating scene.

Casual sex is only casual until those pesky things called emotions get involved. Once that happens, someone’s bound to gets pucked over.

Fallers, if you haven't heard me gush over Helena Hunting's Pucked series, buckle up. Because that's what's about to happen. I picked up the first in the series on a whim a few months ago, and it instantly became one of my favorites. As other readers who interact with me on the internet know, I recommend it to literally everyone. Literally. Her third in the series, Pucked Over (you know, this book), doesn't disappoint. In fact, it really is in the running to top Pucked as my favorite in the series, which I didn't think was humanly possible. I'm giving Pucked Over five leaves!
I've been waiting for Randy Ballistic's story. By all accounts a good guy and secondary character from one of the previous books, I couldn't wait to see who he was paired with. Lily LeBlanc, also a secondary character from one of the previous stories, is his perfect match. They don't exactly start out on the right foot, though. After a few mixed signals and some *ahem* choice encounters in some bathrooms, they manage to find a strange happy medium that leaves them both satisfied in a string-free, fun relationship of sorts. But like all relationships between two people who seem to be meant for each other, strings start looking like a good option, though they're easier said than done for two people who aren't great at talking about or dealing with their feelings.
Long story short, Lily and Randy's story is super hot. Like, off the charts hot. An 11 out of 10 hot (and I don't misuse math for just anyone). But it's also real. It's confusing and emotional and draining and wonderful. There's a scene in this book that actually made me tear up--and for a rom com, that's a huge feat (also, I never cry, so it's an even bigger feat). I won't tell you what the scene is because I'm super anti-spoiler, but it was special. Vulnerable. And I loved it.
GO BUY PUCKED OVER. Now. Now, Fallers, For real. you won't regret it. Plus, you know, hot hockey players. You have literally nothing to lose.
