I rated The 27 Club by Kim Karr FIVE LEAVES!! 

This is Zoey Flowers' story. A story of a sweet young lady who has lived a life full of pain and misfortune. But Zoey was lucky enough to have the love and support of her dear brother Zach and their Grandma to overcome it all. Regrettably, tragedy strikes Zoey's life again when her brother passes away at the age of 27.  This age holds so much significance. Famous people like Kurt Cobain, Janis Jolpin, and Amy Winehouse passed away at 27 but there is also a family history of death at age 27. Zach and Zoey's mother, grandfather and generations back have also died at the age of 27.  Zoey turned 27 a few weeks after Zach dies and she just can not handle life anymore because she is so afraid to die. She wants to do so much and she feels the family curse will be taking her soon.  

 

Zoey heads to Miami, Florida for a couple of months after Zach's death.  When she arrives at Florida she wants to find some closure and to take care of her brother's belongings.  She needs to find peace with his death.  Zoey doesn't expect to find someone that changes everything. She now wants to fight for tomorrow and not plan for death with Zach's best friend, Nate.

Spending time with Nate their attraction starts to grow stronger.  Nate doesn't do relationships and he never spends time with a woman more than once.  Zoey is the only exception. They both agree to a couple of months with no strings attach, but Nate feels bad because he knew that Zach would never want the two to be together because he knows how Nate is with the ladies. Nate wants to show Zoey the world and life is worth living enough though she feels like she is going to die.  The sexual tension between them was so hot and their passion for each other was just out of the world.  Zoey is such a strong heroine with Nate and that was exactly what made him fall for her so deeply.  Zoey shows courage and the openness required to break Nate's walls.

I knew from the first page I was going to LOVE this story. I was drawn to the book until the very last page. I loved the plot and the direction too.  My emotions were all over the place from sadness to happiness, and everything in between. Mark my words this book will make it onto the best-seller lists once released! If you are already a fan of Kim Karr you will love this book! If this is your first time to read a book by her, your life will change and you will definitely love this book and want to read everything by her as soon as you can!

I live in Florida with my husband and four kids. I've always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, I wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. I went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise my family. I currently work part-time with my husband and full-time embracing one of my biggest passions—writing.
