Imperfections Book Blitz + Giveaway

~*SYNOPSIS*~

Who knew falling in love with my best friend had the potential to single-handedly destroy my entire family?

For as long as I could remember I've been in love with sexy, lawyer extraordinaire Nicholas Alexander. We always had a certain chemistry growing up. Especially after we shared one passionate, forbidden, perfect kiss as teenagers. For years I hoped he could look past my overprotective brothers and our age difference so we could be more than friends, I was wrong. Four years ago I left New York and my heart behind. Now I'm back to stake a claim on the only man I've ever loved. But unbeknownst to me, things are way more complicated than I could imagine when I learn he's engaged, to my sister.

Will the love and desire I feel for the one man I've ever truly wanted destroy me? Am I willing to risk it all, for a chance at everlasting love?

Catherine Reed is the one woman I couldn't have but the one I always wanted. She was my best friend’s baby sister which means she was definitely off limits to me and anyone else if I had my way. Not even having a merry-go-round of beautiful girls could stop me from wanting her. Watching her leave was hard but I knew giving in to what I wanted back then would ruin her...us. All I've ever wanted was for her to be happy and to see her beautiful smile.

I haven't gotten to where I am by always doing what's right. She's Back. I want her. I have every intention of making her Mine.

Oh, Fallers. What can I say? Can I say that this was the perfect ending to a story I ended up loving, despite my misgivings?

Yes. Yes I can say that, which is why I'm giving Penny Reid's Capture FIVE LEAVES.

Capture is the third and final installment of Kaitlin Parker and Martin Sandeke's whirlwind story. If you've read my past reviews, you know that I had my own struggles with the story--it can be difficult to read a story you connect personally with, especially when those connections involve parts of yourself that you're not comfortable with. We started Elements of Chemistry with a young woman experienced in avoidance and hiding from her problems and shutting down her feelings and a young man who was angry (and mostly just angry and other crabby feelings). We start Capture with a young woman who has discovered her passion, has tried her best to stop hiding in closets, and is finally starting to get what she wants out of life and a young man who is calm, confident, and decidedly less angry.

Capture, all in all, is a story about two people who worked, and then didn't, but changed for the better and might be able to make a really wonderful, well-rounded couple. But first, as with any story, they have to actually get their collective crap together. What ensues is one of the cutest stories I've had the opportunity to read in my very short career as a blogger. Yes, we have the opportunity to read Penny's trademarked raw honesty and human interaction, fraught with difficult conversations and real relationship stops and starts. But it's also damn cute. I won't give away the end, but let me tell you--if you've been waiting to read this series in its entirety like I have, the ending does not disappoint.

Read. One-click it. Do it NOW, Fallers.

SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing).
By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.

Breaking Noah by Missy Johnson & Ashley Suzanne Review + Giveaway

~*SYNOPSIS*~

What happens when you start falling for your worst enemy? Fans of Abbi Glines and Monica Murphy will relish this addictive novel of smoking-hot seduction—and revenge gone so wrong, it’s right.

I wasn’t always this jaded. I had a clear head, things I wanted out of life, and a concise plan on how to get there. For being only twenty-one, I pretty much had it all figured out. Until the day my cousin died.

I spent months going over all the details surrounding her death, trying to figure out how I missed the signs, and the only thing I could come up with was she would still be alive if it wasn’t for one person: her professor. So I transferred to his college, enrolled in his class, and set my new plan in motion.

First I’ll seduce him. Then I’ll ruin him. I’ve just got to stay strong and not let his charm and my emotions get the best of me. Because someone has to pay for her death. If it’s the last thing I do, I’m going to break Noah.

~*EXCERPT*~

I stare down at my bland cafeteria lunch, my breathing erratic. It took forever, but I finally found a table away from the prying, curious eyes of the other students . . . where I can sit and eat . . . alone. Not that I’m hungry, though. I’m too anxious to eat . . . too worked up. I’m sure anyone close enough to hear my accelerated breathing and my heart pounding away faster than the drum line would think I’ve completely lost my mind—but I don’t care. Now that I’m here, this whole thing has suddenly become real. I’m more shocked that I was able to channel my inner Karly and remain calm and collected. I send a silent prayer thanking her for the strength to get through my first class with him.

I’m actually doing this. Months of planning and I’m actually at Northwestern, in his class, living out my calculated plan of revenge on the person I hate more than anyone else in this world; the person who stole my best friend . . . my cousin . . . right out from under me without any warning at all.

Noah Bain.

Even his name makes me feel sick. I’m honestly surprised I was able to be so close to him—alone with him—for more than a few minutes without ramming a pencil through his eye. But death would be too easy. He needs to pay for his mistake. I just need to figure out the best way to go about this. There really are a lot of options. Maybe I’ll just sit back and let the situation work itself out, and if he turns out to be the creep I know he is, he’ll play right into my trap and half the work will be done for me.

I push my tray across the table, unable to stand the sight of food right now. I need just a little while to calm down. I hate that he’s being so nice to me. It doesn’t change anything, though. This morning, before I actually laid eyes on him, there was just a small spark. Now, after having heard his voice, I can picture him saying all those things to lure Karly, then trying to break her. Who am I kidding? He didn’t just try, he succeeded. And now that tiny spark has turned into a flame so large it’s capable of engulfing me whole.

I’m going to destroy him . . . it’s the one thing I can do to try to get some justice for Karly. I’ll be sure she comes out the winner. He doesn’t get to live his happy little life while she’s rotting away in a box six feet under. She deserves more.

~*REVIEW BY ELYSSA*~
Breaking Noah was a pretty-fast paced novel, full of some fascinating twists and turns--I'm giving it three and a half leaves!

Zara's out to avenge the death of her cousin, and her plot centers on one man--Noah, a professor at the college Zara has recently enrolled in that Zara believes her cousin had an affair with. The second she arrives in Noah's classroom he notices her--how much smarter she is than most of the other students. Despite the fact he has a girlfriend, he's fascinated by her and he sees some of the same restlessness he has in her. Throughout the story, we're treated to the couple's explosive chemistry (it's off the carts, people) and a generally fun, quippy relationship between the two.

Unfortunately, I really didn't find Zara likable as a character. She was always fast to jump to conclusions, didn't treat her boyfriend well at all (and cheated on him with Noah)--though later in the story that's kind of forgiven, and instead of confronting any problem head-on, she circumvents it and attempts to take the most vindictive way out. Noah wasn't my favorite either--he was generally unsupportive of his girlfriend and treated her horribly. Later, we discover that his girlfriend isn't perfect, but it felt like her transgressions were created so that Noah wasn't a totally horrible person. The story, as a whole, could have been circumvented if Zara had simply talked to Noah about her cousin, none of the issues in this story would have happened.

Despite this, Breaking Noah was very well-written and the pacing, as I mentioned before, was excellent--the story was crafted well, I just didn't particularly enjoy it.

 ~*ABOUT THE AUTHOR- ASHLEY SUZANNE*~

Ashley Suzanne has been writing for as long as she can remember. As a youngster, she was always creating stories and talking to her imaginary friends. Thankfully, her parents also carried this love of fiction, and helped her grow into the bestselling author she is today. When Ashley isn’t coming up with her next story, you'll most likely find her on the couch, telling her husband all about her new book boyfriend, or spending quality time with her two gremlins . . . er, adorable children.
