The Light of the World Cover Reveal

The Light of the World
Author: Randi Black
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance 18+
Publication Date: June 27, 2014

It was 1995 in the Southern California wasteland.

I was barely legal and far from innocent. I loved the Gun Club more than I loved Walter, my high school sweetheart.  He was the only person who knew why I stopped singing and playing guitar after what happened to me when I was 16.  But even an engagement ring couldn’t save us after what he did to me that one afternoon.

I used to worry that college would come between us, but I never thought it would happen on move-in day.

That was the day I met Franz : a tall, handsome 23-year-old ex-jock from Germany.  He was so not my type, but the more I got to know him, the more I knew he was the right guy for me.  And after Walter betrayed me for the last time, it was time for me to break up with him and be with Franz for good.  I never thought he’d be a safe place for me to explore my darkest sexual fantasies.  Nor that he’d be a kindred spirit who knew exactly what it felt like when someone ridiculed your musical aspirations.

We gonna start playing music together and be who were meant to be.  Nothing and no one was gonna stop us.

Not even Walter.

Note:  This is the standalone sequel to Miss World, which was self-published in 2011, and takes place a month later.

Title: Nash (Marked Men #4)
Author: Jay Crownover
Genre: New Adult/ Coming of Age
Publication Date: April 29, 2014
Publisher: William Morrow Paperbacks, an imprint of HarperCollins
Event Organized By: Literati Author Services, Inc.

Will their past determine their future?
Saint Ford has worked hard to achieve her childhood dream of becoming of nurse. Focused on her work and devoted to her patients, there’s no room for love. She doesn’t need a guy making waves in her calm, serene life—especially when he’s the unforgettable hottie who nearly destroyed her in high school. Dark, brooding Nash Donovan might not remember her or the terrible pain he caused. But he turned her world upside down . . . and now he’s trying to do it again.
Saint has no idea that Nash isn’t the cocky player he once was. Uncovering a devastating family secret has rocked his world, and now he’s struggling to figure out his future. He can’t be distracted by the pretty nurse he seems to meet everywhere. Still, he can’t ignore the sparks that fly between them —or how she seems so desperate to get away from him. But the funny, sweet, and drop-dead gorgeous Saint is far too amazing to give up on—especially since she’s the only thing in his life that seems to make sense.
When Nash discovers the truth about their past, he realizes he may have lost her heart before he could even fight for it. Now, Saint has to decide: is Nash worth risking herself for all over again?

I rated Nash with FOUR AND ONE HALF LEAVES. I am such a fan of The Marked Men Series so I was already looking forward to getting to read Nash. I’ve been reviewing The Marked Men Series since Rule.  Just like the other books in her series, Jay Crownover definitely did not disappoint with Nash’s story.

Nash has always been the friend of the group who has his head on straight. He, in my opinion, is the most reliable and down to earth. When Nash’s story starts, he has a few bombs drop on him that turn his world upside down. To make things even crazier, he keeps running into the redheaded nurse that he remembers from high school. This is where Saint comes in. Saint wasn’t always the most popular girl in high school. She was very timid and this could be because she didn’t think she was a pretty girl. She had a few extra pounds on her in school and this was a major blow to her self-esteem. When high school aged Nash shared a locker close to Saint and was giving her attention, she thought her dreams were coming true. Nash was part of the in crowd and was a good looking boy to boot. When Nash invited her to go to a party, she thought this was her in. Saint was thoroughly disappointed when she showed up to the party and Nash didn’t even notice she was there. Saint never really got over the disappointment that was Nash. This is why she never trusted men throughout her life. She decided if men could not get close to her then they could not hurt her.

When Nash Donovan comes back into her life 7 years later, she has a very hard time even wanting to be around him. Saint is a nurse and although it is against everything she believes in because Nurses are not supposed to get emotionally involved, she actually does want to help Nash. Nash is very intrigued with Saint and has no clue why she is so hot and cold with him. She hates him and he has no idea why. Saint is there for Nash in his time of need.

Can Saint let Nash back into her life and forget the past?  Will Saint’s reservations about men stop her from fully being herself with Nash? How will Nash deal with the difficulties he has going on in his life, Saint being one of them? Check out Nash to find out. I can promise you won’t regret it.

I'm supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I'm an natural redhead even though I haven't seen my real hair color in years, I'm a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I've been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that. I love to write, love to read and all I'm interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something. Thanks for taking the time to check my stuff out...

Transcendence Review

It’s said that women and men are from two different planets when it comes to communication, but how can they overcome the obstacles of prehistoric times when one of them simply doesn’t have the ability to comprehend language?

Ehd’s a caveman living on his own in a harsh wilderness. He’s strong and intelligent, but completely alone. When he finds a beautiful young woman in his pit trap, it’s obvious to him that she is meant to be his mate. He doesn’t know where she came from; she’s wearing some pretty odd clothing, and she makes a lot of noises with her mouth that give him a headache. Still, he’s determined to fulfill his purpose in life – provide for her, protect her, and put a baby in her.

Elizabeth doesn’t know where she is or exactly how she got there. She’s confused and distressed by her predicament, and there’s a caveman hauling her back to his cavehome. She’s not at all interested in Ehd’s primitive advances, and she just can’t seem to get him to listen. No matter what she tries, getting her point across to this primitive, but beautiful, man is a constant – and often hilarious – struggle.

With only each other for company, they must rely on one another to fight the dangers of the wild and prepare for the winter months. As they struggle to coexist, theirs becomes a love story that transcends language and time.

Shay Savage, I love your writing and your mind. This book was so much and so many emotions came out while reading it. I am not sure how to explain it but its SO good.  A MUST read of 2014!!  I absolutely adored the premise of this book. A caveman? It's such a unique idea and the author really made it work.

It has been a couple of months since I've read this book.  I've had this review ready, but then I would change it because I felt like my words could not give this book justice.  Edh is an actual caveman; the book is set in Prehistoric time.  After his tribe was destroyed, he became its lone survivor.  He has been so lonely and longs to have a female companionship along with intimacy. One day he finds he's mate... Beh is in one of the traps he has set for food. Beh is dressed differently than him and makes these strange noises that Edh does not understand. Edh is the ultimate Alpha. He wants to protect Beh to the best of he's ability, any way he can. As they start to get adjusted to each other, they start to experience love for each other. Even though there was no dialogue; you could really tell how much they loved each other. They make a great couple and their smoking hot romance grew quickly and perfectly. The storyline was so exciting and different from anything that I have read. There was no way I was putting it down! Ehd and Beh captured my heart and I didn't want to stop reading their story.  The only problem is that I wish we could've got more of Beh's POV.

Most importantly, I was HIGHLY impressed with this book.  It has everything, a well developed plot, strong characters, and a sexy sweet romance.  I was completely blown away by this book and Shay Savage.  The book stands out from all the other fantasy books.  This is a must read for everyone! It will blow you away and leave you craving for more of Ehd and Beh!

Pulled Beneath Review

What happens when you uncover years of secrets and find out everything you thought to be true was a lie?
Drew Stevens finds her world turned upside down when her parents are brutally murdered. Soon after, she learns she inherited a property in Bar Harbor, Maine from recently deceased grandparents that she believed had died when she was a baby.
Drew travels north to settle her grandparents’ estate, but finds more questions than answers as the truth starts unraveling. What she didn’t expect to find was Saint, whose reputation was as tumultuous as his past. But the very thing that brought them together was the same thing that kept them emotionally caged.
With Saint’s scars so deep and Drew’s so fresh, can the pair heal from their painful wounds or will they be pulled beneath the darkness of their pasts?

Let me start off saying I am a HUGE fan of Marni Mann's writing! I love her writing style, her characters, everything is just beautiful.  She is just a wonderful author with great amazing heartfelt stories that are so filled with hope and promise.  I can't resist her books even if tried, Marni's books are on my auto buy list. She will always be my favorite author.

I fell in love with Pulled Beneath from the very first page. The author takes you through a very painful step of Drew's troubled journey in her attempts to recover from her parents death and dealing with her mother's past.  Drew must also bear the burden of what she is going to do when she goes to Maine after her grandparents have leave her their house after their deaths.   She struggles through each day and barely holds things together. Her photography is suffering as she has not lifted her camera since her parent's passing.  Drew then meets the sexy Saint and it seems as if they are meant for each other.

Then the author throws in a few major plot twists which will totally surprise you! I enjoyed the supporting characters, they all have a story to be told and I can't wait to find out where each of them will go from here.  Their presence really added to the story.

A few things I've learned about this book:
1.  I want to go to Maine.
2. I want to try a Whoopie pie!
3. Where can I find me a sexy Saint?
4. I LOVED this book and can't wait for the next two in this series.

“You care. You can pretend you don’t, but you do. I live in southern Arkansas with my husband and young daughter. There is also an insane Boston Terrier running around. I've always been a lone wolf and find my friends in books. I started writing at a young age and I haven't stopped since. Most days you can find me either glued to my laptop or my kindle. My first novel, This Beautiful Thing was an Amazon best seller for 11 weeks and a year later I'm still tickled to see people enjoy it. I may not be a huge seller but I have the best fans ever and I thank God everyday for every single one of them.
